Sylvie and Max Librach

Sylvie and Max Librach are the co-directors, of JLIC Nachlaot.

Max is from Toronto and studied at McMaster University, where he was involved in just about every aspect of Jewish life on campus! He served as president of Hillel, led Israel on Campus, and learned with students through Maimonides (Ohr Sameach). He was a driving force behind strengthening Jewish life at McMaster and helped pave the way for JLIC to eventually launch there. He then went on to pursue a Master’s of Science degree at University of Toronto (UofT) before fulfilling his long-time dream of studying in Yeshiva at Shapells in Jerusalem, where he has been learning for the past two years, BH!

Sylvie is originally from New York and attended Emory University, where she dove headfirst into Jewish campus life. She served on the boards of Hillel and Emory Students for Israel, and spent three years as president of the Emory Bayit, a kosher and shomer Shabbat home for Jewish students. She was also a Nachshon Project Fellow, spending a semester at Hebrew University studying Jewish education and implementing her own initiatives back at Emory. She has spent the past two years learning alongside Max in the married couples program at Midreshet Rachel V’Chaya. She is very passionate about creating spaces where students feel truly at home in their Jewish journey.

Max and Sylvie met on a high school trip to Israel and have been growing together ever since in Torah, community, and shared purpose. They love getting to know students, building real relationships, and creating spaces where people feel welcomed, inspired, and well-fed. Their Shabbat meals are full of ruach, Torah, and great food. They live in Jerusalem with their son Meir and are excited and honoured to bring their warmth, energy, and love for Jewish life to campus through JLIC.
